Professor Ademola Abass is Head of Programme and Research Fellow in Peace and Security and Capacity-Building at the United Nations University Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS), Bruges, and was formerly Professor of International Law and Organisation at Brunel University, West London. He was educated at the Universities of Lagos, Cambridge, and Nottingham holds a doctorate in International Law. He also received an Advanced Diploma (Magna cum Laude) from the Institute of International Public Law/International Relations, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Previously, Ademola taught at the Universities of Reading, Nottingham and UWE, Bristol. Ademola was African Union’s first expert on Regional Mechanisms and also served as European Commission’s expert on capacity building for African regional organisations. He has consulted widely for several States and international organizations. He researches broadly in Public International Law and Peace and Security studies, and has published in areas of Collective Security law, International Criminal Law, and International Organisations. He is a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Society, and a member of the Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS).

He is a regular commentator on BBC, Channel 4 and Al Jazeera.
