The Conflict, Security and Development Group

Alicia holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Political Science) degree from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. She has worked as Gender Project Officer for International Alert a peace building organisation where she implemented projects on human security (dealing with issues of actual and perceived threats to the safety and security of women and girls) and Enabling Effective Citizenship ‘Promoting the participation of women and youths in politics’. She developed project implementation strategies, monitored implementation, provided technical support to partners and conducted trainings. She also worked with Action Aid International Sierra Leone on a ‘Violence against Women project in post conflict situations’, dealing with challenges of dual justice system for survivors of violence, building the capacity of the Family Support unit, psychosocial issues surrounding VAW and the link between VAW and HIV/AIDS. Alicia has technical skills and experience on issues of gender based violence, working with community based organisations, local government structures and a range of civil society organisations in Sierra Leone.
