The Department of War Studies at King’s College London hosts a wide range of research, policy, advisory, teaching and training activities relating to conflict, security and development and which enable it to serve as a true bridge between academic scholarship and real world decision-making in these fields. These activities are managed by two different units: the Conflict, Security and Development Group (CSDG) and the Conflict, Security and Development Research Group. The two units collaborate closely on the Department’s teaching and publication activities.
CSDG was established as an autonomous research, policy and training unit in 1999 and attached to the Department of War Studies in 2006. CSDG is dedicated to enhancing complementarity between home-grown and external responses to the security and development challenges facing countries in the Global South and, as such, has a strong policy and operational focus. The Conflict, Security and Development Research Group serves as a focal point for the Department’s research activities, workshops and teaching, including a Masters Programme on Conflict, Security and Development. |
